Blackberry Playbook Camera vs iPad Camera

In the match of Blackberry Playbook camera vs iPad camera, the camera for Blackberry Playbooks wins hands down. Learn why the 2 Playbook tablet cameras rule!

Yes, the word was plural. There are two cameras in the Playbook, one in the front and one on the back.

Of all the reasons why the Blackberry Playbook surpasses the performance of the Apple iPad, this is probably the most important.

Camera for Blackberry Playbook

The Blackberry Playbook comes with two camers:

  • 5 megapixel camera on front
  • 3 megapixel camera on back

The one on the back of the Playbook is probably the most self-explanatory. Unlike the iPad, you’ll be able to take pictures with this tablet PC. But that’s not all. You won’t just be able to take still photos, but you’ll be able to shoot video with it, as well.

And not just any low-tech video that comes with most camera phones today, but 1080p resolution, high definition video. This means your Blackberry Playbook can record in HD. You’ll also be able to install some potential movie making or video editing software onto the Playbook to create actual films with it.

The Playbook camera on front–though it has less resolution than the one on the back–is perhaps even more exciting. This means that you will be able to video conference with other people on their phones, laptops, or other Blackberry Playbook tablet PCs.

Skype, or some other similar program, will be one of the coolest applications you can utilize with your Playbook tablet.

You can also use the 3 megapixel front-facing camera to take up-to-the-minute self portraits for all your social networking needs. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace–any of these will be able to take in a new profile photo with the press of a button.

Playbook Camera vs iPad Camera

Right now, the competition between the Blackberry Playbook camera and the iPad camera doesn’t even exist. Why? Because the iPad doesn’t even come with a camera!

Of course, later incarnations of the Apple iPad are bound to have really good cameras, maybe even better than the first generation Playbook camera. But as of right now they have nothing.

This leads to another exciting point: since the Blackberry Playbook tablet PC will have a camera and a ton of other improvements over the iPad, this will cause Apple to reinvent their products at a quicker rate. Which, in turn, will force Blackberry to reinvent theirs.

With the beginning of the tablet PC war comes much quicker technological advancements and innovations of the devices. This means that we have a front-row seat to one of the greatest shows on earth.
